Our Founder
Our Founder's Story
Dr. Monique Davis grew up witnessing the silent suffering that comes from untreated mental health struggles in the African American community — the stigma, the lack of access, and the cultural disconnect from mainstream mental health services. After completing her doctorate in clinical psychology, she returned to the community that raised her with a single, powerful conviction: our people deserve to heal.
In 2018, she founded Healing Hearts Foundation with a kitchen table, a vision, and a small team of dedicated volunteers. Today, the foundation operates four core programs, employs 12 full-time staff, and has touched the lives of over 500 individuals and families. Dr. Davis believes that healing is not just personal — it is communal, and that when one person heals, their entire family and neighborhood benefits.
